One of the advantages of Rhodes island is the mild climate hot enough for comfortable winters and great summers with full day sunshine and warm clear sea waters. Vegetation is cared for in the winter time, which allows for the survival of the trees and plants over the summer time too. Statistics show that on average, Rhodes Island has 300 days of sunshine per year while between April and Octoberm the chances of full sunshine are almost 100%. The summer cool and sometimes strong breeze balances the over 25C temperature days.

About Rhodes Island
The island of Rhodes is situated at the crossroads of two major sea routes of the Mediterranean between the Aegean Sea and the coast of the Middle East, as well as Cyprus and Egypt.
The meeting point of three continents, it has known many civilizations. Throughout its long history the different people who settled on Rhodes left their mark in all aspects of the island's culture: art, language, architecture. Its strategic position brought to the island great wealth and made the city of Rhodes one of the leading cities of the ancient Greek world.
Rhodes is the largest island in the Dodecanese. Its capital city, located at its northern tip, is the capital of the Prefecture with the Medieval Town in its centre.
In 1988 the Medieval Town was designated as a World Heritage City. The Medieval Town of Rhodes is the result of different architectures belonging to various historic eras, predominantly those of the Knights of St. John.

Rhodes island offers to all visitors a wide variety of attractions, monuments, activities and entertainment.

Transportation

Airport Diagoras is an international airport located 17km from the city of Rodos. During the summer many international regular charter flights are available connecting the island with all european main airports as well as most of the central world airports.
Many local daily flights are also operational like Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion (Crete), Kos, Kastellorizo, Karpathos, Leros
Sea connections are available through the commercial harbour situated in the city, which hosts International and local ferries. There are regular ferry lines conecting Rhodes to Athens (Piraeus), Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Cyprus and Turkey. Rhodes is the connection to the rest of Greece for all neighbouring islands through extensive boat and hydrofoil services.
Bus public transport - RODA, the municipal public bus service company operates 5 city routes every 30 minute (from 06:30 to 21:00 in most of the routes). All routes depart from Mandraki, at the city center. For transportation outside the city there are two bus station terminal. The west side bus station, operated by RODA, is located in Averof str. and serves all villages on the island’s west side including a route at Koskinou (west side). The east side bus station , operated by KTEL is located in Rimini square and serves all villages on the island’s east side
Taxis are available for transfers to any part of the island. Rodos has more than 400 taxis. Rates are considered to be cheap when compared to other countries.
